I’ve always been a fan of the sleek, industrial look of the Apple Power Mac G5 and the Mac Pro 5.1—those aluminum beasts are just iconic! So, naturally, I’ve been dreaming about having a miniature version sitting on my desk, powered by a Raspberry Pi. How cool would that be?
And get this—apparently, Steve Jobs himself was into the idea of a miniature G5. He hed one on his desk! 😄 Look at this photo. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but probably a ¼ G5 case prototype
How it works
It's modular 4 part desing
It's work in progress so look of stls may differ from pictures but it works fine, some changes may occur in future!
Skechup file is included - with interactions to better understand the design
Maybe you have other Pi version / clone or just different needs and you want to fit SSD drive inside - go ahead and remix this project - I'm waiting to see what you are capable of
❓FAQ
Q: Can I fit fan inside?
A: I do not have any fans for RPi, but it's worth to check out Paul Walsh make of this project. He discovered that low profile fan can fit without any modifications to the case - but you need to drill some space for different type of bolts.
⏳Timeline
I originaly designed first version in 2020. Now when I see how many people needed that project I really regret not uploading in sooner. Sorry guys!
